The 11th installment of the Grand Theft Auto series. You play as Niko Bellic an immigrant who has come to Liberty City to live the American Dream. The game takes place in a redesigned Liberty City, designed to be closer to the real life New York City. The civilian characters walking along the streets have been made more life like and with the detailed graphics produced by the RAGE and Euphoria engines GTA IV has been made to feel more alive than any of its counterparts. When stealing a locked car Niko must first break the window and hotwire it before he can go anywhere, no longer does everyone conveniently leave their car open with the keys ready to go in the ignition. Vehicle control has been made more realistic to match the level of detail present in car damage. GTA III saw the series go 3D and brought the player closer to the action, GTA IV brings that action to life.

Anyway - they need to protect the sensitivity of those that have passed away - irrespective of what opinion you may personally hold, innocent people dying and re-creating it: is just not right in my books.

But on a happier note... it is GTA... I cannot wait.

IV is set in present day and most other GTAs were set in the 80s and 90s so the characters would be old. The latest GTA setting was 1998 in LCS, so maybe a couple people from there would be back.

No, no previous characters will be making an appearance at all, this has been made very clear. This game has no connection to previous installments in the GTA franchise, it's the start of a whole new chapter.

Have never played a gta before but I'm sort of excited? This is one the best franchises in gaming history for a reason I hope...

Anyone know is their an actual gamplay screen anywhere, you know with like health indicators ect, or just those artwork pseudo screenshots?

This looks great...liked the idea of mobile phones as a way of getting new missions

IMO the planes and helicopters were an awesome addition too the game and it's a shame they've take them out, out of curiosity why did you think they were stupid? All of my mates asked if vice city stories had them and when i told them they did whats the first thing they went for... lol. The size of san andreas was mad it made the game last ages, heaps to explore, lots to do etc, maybe a tad big but if you think San Andreas has too much endless space you've obviously never played Daggerfall lol, it takes literally 2 weeks of straight playing to walk from one side of the map to the other, if you don't believe it look it up, a coule of people actually did it. Hopefully this is as awesome as i expect it will be.

GTA IV is set in a real place, all the other games locations were fictional Its better for them to do it instead of not doing anything about it and copping a bunch of flack

Taking planes out makes a lot of sense. I mean the world isn't that big. Even with GTA-SA you could go from one side of the world to the other in under a minute... In a map the size of GTAIV there wouldn't be much you could do with a plane other than crash.

Ah, fond memories of GTA SA. That jet pack was a fine bit of equipment. I should go back and play that again.

Rockstar haven't confimed or denied it yet, but when i said 1 year, i meant at least, meaning i think that it could even take as long as the Halo games took to reach PC, but that is only if it does come to PC.

Atleast in GTA IV you can do backflips or frontflips without the guy letting go.

Game came as a bit of a let down to me. I was probably expecting too much from it.
It just seems really boring with most of the landscape being city. San Andreas had more of that fun appeal to it, whereas, you could roam bush land, drive up a huge mountain, or even go exploring in the desert.

Also disappointing was, you cant fly planes, and there is no Monster Truck to drive, reducing fun level even more.

bit late but yeah ive seen the heart inside the statue, not a huge deal lol. going to go back to this game when i physically have time, just cant find 30 hours to throw into this to get the gold trophy lol. should be awesome though. dont be put off by the fact the city is smaller than san andreas...just think about how vibrant the city is, with things always going on that you might miss if you werent looking for them. the recreation of a city by rockstar is superb, but lots of people overlook that due to its size.
