join games that have low pings. under 100 is best. they say under 200 isnt noticable, but it is.
fudge, i wouldnt be going past a 10M, but you can go longer. And you will find that wireless is the one that is lossign more data. With all those radio waves in the airs these days. I have had a problem at work where too many people where using bluetooth and wireless keyboards , and that sort of stuff on one of the floors that it effecting the wireless network a lot. Also with wireless im guessing you have some sortt of security on it. Just remember everytime a packet is being sent, it has to send that code with it, making you packet sizes bigger and therefore slowing down performance. This is also the reason at home i use MAC filtering and no other security. MAC filtering means that the router wont talk to that device unless it reconize that mac address. MAC addresses are naturally sent in the packet, therefore you arent increasing you packet size. basic first year computer science stuff
a good way for you to test which is better for you, would be to get a friend to host a game late at night (to help get rid of any other factors that may be effect the test) and try connecting with wireless then wired, and compare pings and so on.
