PS3 Console \ Got my PS3, Fan Question..

Just got my PS3, started it up... works great, just when i play a game (TH: P8) the fan goes crazy ie louder and faster i guess. Is that normal?

depends how much air flow around the unit it gets. But it sholdnt worry the ps3 at all it will get a little loud if its hot but it wont hurt it.

its in an open cabnet... its pretty loud, louder than my 30 idle... bout the same as the 360 sounds with the disc spinning.. only did it when the graphics started on tony hawk, ejected the game still doing it on the dash board... weird. Ive got bad luck when it comes to electronics

Mine is completely silent..even when playing games. But mine is well ventilated..just make sure your's is too and it will be fine.
If it continues to be abnormally loud give sony a call and see what they say. they will most likely fix it under warranty. You will just be with out it for a week or two.

i just got it this is BS! its silent till the graphics start on tony hawk 
then remains noisy till you reset it

my brother asked me same question the day he got his, can get noisy on a hot day, thou mine doesn't but it's on top of my cabinet not inside.

mine has a weird problem when it is noisy on one disc, although I can't find any explanation. Apart from that disc, the PS3 is whisper quiet.

You may have just been unlucky enough to get a faulty unit. But like i said you can send it away to sony for them to repair it

I FOUND OUT HOW TO DO THIS as far as I know it only works on the 40 gig version Step:1 turn off your ps3 from the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the back of the systemstep 2: how down your finger on the eject button/sensor on the front of the ps3 step:3 switch the main power switch on the back of your console on while still holding your finger down on eject
step 4: wait about 10 seconds for the system to start up and when it does BOOM FANS COME ON AT FULL BLAST
thats almost as loud as mine sounds

just to show ya what is doing is all... except it does it when playing a game automatically... must be triggered by heat... obviously!
