Playstation 3 Hardware \ Help a n00b max out his new ps3!

Hey guys, im 25 from Queensland and im pretty useless at computers. I bought a ps3 just to act as an extension of my manhood and to impress my mates BUT...

As i said im not so sophisticated at this sort of thing, so can anyone give me any hints on cool things to do to make my ps3 more efficient and fun!!!!

Things i have done:

1. Registered it and ordered the BD 007.

2. Completed the system update.

3. Put some video music clips on it.

4. Put my music on it (although i cant upload certain files AND i cant make separate folders for each Artist/Band).

5. Downloaded some demos.


Things i would like to do:

1. Create individual folders for my videos.

2. Create individual folders for my music.

3. Use a faster more efficient operating system.


If anyone has any ideas or neat little tricks you think i would make use of can you PLEASE let me know as it would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't have it on my ps3, but i have heard from ALOT of people that it is a fantastic program. I hope i have helped you and remember to keep checking for Firmware updates.

So how do i upload that OS??? How do i find it on my ps3???

Type in Yellow Dog Linux???

Anyone else have any neat ideas for things i can do as i dont have any games haha!

You will need to download the ISO and burn it off to a DVD, to install it on the PS3, you will need to re-format your PS3 HDD and start all over again.

PS. I don't suggest starting off on Linux if you're not great on PC as it is a LOT more complicated to install than say... Windows...

I think you're jumping into the deep end a tad premature...personally I wouldn't bother just yet, if ever. Sit back and begin to enjoy your console without feeling the need to show off.
