Is the TV covered by warranty still as Im pretty sure the PS3 isnt responsible, its proberly just something that has gone wrong with the TV.

Most LG LCD TV's come with 3 years warranty straight out from LG.

Have a look into it..

LOL Nah man - PS3 didn't break your TV it was Def Jam demo that did!!! We better start a thread to inform everyone that playing Def Jam demo on PS3 breaks TVs!!!! Very much like the sea of "COD4 breaks 40gig PS3" threads. LOL

Better still - how's this inference by using similar logic:

1. I drink a bottle of PUMP water (flavoured or unflavoured it doesn't really matter)
2. I feel like I need to hang a piss
3. I hang a piss and flush my toilet
4. I see on the news that torrential floods wiped out a small Italian town
5. I therefore conclude that drinking PUMP water (or flushing a toilet) will cause torrential floods in Italy.

PS - just tell your mum you were watching Oprah when the TV just cracked the ****s and took a stand against crap being played on it - so it blew a capacitor.

Haha, thanks for cheering me up, 3 year warrenty is sounding good.

It's a bit much of a coincidence thought, that it was when I reset my PS3 my TV decided not to work properly.

Is it possible that Def Jam broke the TV, it was an American demo...
I'm in UK, I thought region coding was obselite...

Consoles dont break TV's... theres probebly just a loose cable somewhere. The thing with HDMI is they get loose real easy, so i'd suggest leaving all your gear on standby, tighten all cables to the TV and to the PS3, DVD, etc.. and try it then.

Also try changing channels.. sometimes the TV itself gets stuck on which channel you actually want and if you change it it wont change at all - just a blank screen. So try changing channels, turning the TV off, and repeating just to see if you get a picture on a known station.

the problem is that I think Lewace said that no picture appears at all regardless of what he puts on - so its unlikely that its a loose HDMI cable.

Unfortunately for the poor bugger the TV just happened to pack in when he was playing his PS3 instead of when his mum was watching a DVD or something.

Lewace I wouldn't get too worried about it mate - you don't have to tell your mum you were anywhere near the TV when it lost picture. As others have suggested, since this is clearly not your fault, just tell a little lie (i.e that you were watching TV and it suddenly stopped working - best to keep PS3 out of it cause parents love to blame gaming consoles for many things) or simply lie by omission - don't tell her anything at all and let her turn the TV on and work out that there's no picture. Problem solved

What im saying is the TV probebly isnt broken at all... there are heaps of possibilites, i was merely suggesting some that have worked for me in the past.

Nothing works at all.

I'm able to change the input I think, 'coz I can here differant stuff on differant inputs (Digital and Terrestial) but when I try PS3 through either hdmi (both ports) or red, white blue thingy's, nothing... I just cycle back to digital/terrestial.

And "catching up on Skins" I think willl be a good excuse...

Have you got the LG manual handy? Have a scan through and see if there's anything there about resetting the TV's settings to default?

Also, you could try disconnecting everything, and switching the power completely off and leaving for a few minutes. I don't mean standby, I mean pulling ALL connections, even to the power.

When you are done, just plug the antenna back in, and try and watch normal TV without connecting anything else.

Mate this happened to our tv a while back, its a plasma but it sounds like the exact same problem. The constant flicker between frames etc caused some of the internals to screw up, only with the picture though.
We still had sound but there was no picture at all through any connections or inputs. Luckily it was still under warranty. The technician said it was a fault which was caused by faulty internals which was made worse by the flickering!!
No dramas since though

I wonder... in the display settings on the PS3, you specify what resolutions your TV can handle. On computers, if you put resolutions and refresh rates through to a monitor that the monitor didn't support, you could damage it. It's not that impossible that the flicking was sending different resolutions to the TV, and has maybe damaged it much like the old problem with monitors/computers.

Just a thought!

Im pretty sure you will always get flickering...if you have your tv set at 1080i and your game only supports 720p than its going to flicker as soon as the game runs so im not sure if its avoidable. I could be wrong though

Is it still under warranty?? cause it definitely sounds like internals not connections. So you will have to get it checked out regardless...if you want a working tv

If its only relatively knew, it should be under warranty for atleast 12 months so your best bet is to find the receipt and give LG a call. They will than advise you of your closest repair centre and it will go from there unless it is a third party warranty where you will have to phone them with the details.
