Playstation 3 Software & Firmware \ Failure After System Update

Hi Everyone,

So last night my girlfriend and i were trying to update our PS3, we finally got it to work.. and now that the system has updated, we can't seem to load any of our games. We bought a new game, still won't work.

Any ideas?

i installed the update via a USB stick

after i insert the disc, on the top right hand of the screen is the little circle that appears to be loading the game info.. but i let it sit there (and burn into my plasma!) for over 40mins.. and nothing happened.

I called up Sony and organising my PS3 to get sent down to the Sony repair centre in NSW somewhere.

If its still in warranty wouldnt u prefer giving it to Sony and letting them fix it for free instead of going else where

25 days without a PS3 ... it's killing me already. I'm already on ebay looking for an Aussie 60GB ...

i was really looking forward to playing the new Civ game.. so disappointed. why did it have to fail on me now.. WHY!

i had a 60gb on layby, and because i was 1 day over the date of picking it up they sold it.
In the USA they had 80GB.. damn.

2. Turn off PS3, when turning on ... keep holding until you hear the 2nd beep)
3. Turn off PS3, turn it off at the back, wait 20 minutes then turn on again.
4. Restore the PS3 system (Full format)

It didn't help me. So I called up to organise a repair.

To be honest, I don't think any of those suggestions will help.
My PS3's laser is definitely stuffed.
How? I don't know. I wish I knew .. then I'd be cautious and stop doing whatever I was doing wrong ...

Yeh i've given up and called sony.
neither of us happy about giving it up for a month! .. i guess i'll check out that thing they call.. sunshine
