Bigpond isn't overpriced, mine is $49.95 a month for 1.5mb/s, which is good. Bigpond is generally great, except when you have a problem, then they have no idea what you are talking about.

It's something wrong with Telstra's servers or whatever in the US. Sites out of australia aren't loading.
