There's no point really because if you buy playstation- australia magazine, they really give out dvd's of small movies and stuff posters, but the thing is they have the ps2 still in action and by putting demos for both platforms it is really hard to keep prices at 15.00 I think that's how much it cost. And your standard blueray is like 25 bux so if they want to put bluerays they have to make ure there break even meaning profit not loss.

Also another thing in one of the last mags they had a demo disk and it had allover it blueray disk demo and all but most of these demos of been on the ps store for like months, nothing new, so I say if you have the internet then you have it all what's in the mag sept you may have to do more work

@RSOP, yes, coz everyone has their ps3 hooked up to the net and has a huge limit to download very chunky demos

@stax28: as far as I know, Aussie PS3 Magazine occasionally puts out disc releases, they haven't done one for a while now though

Sorry, I have 15gb a month and don't waste gigs on youtube, however with demos commonly reaching over 1gb in size, I can't download all of them...

I've subscribed to the Official Playstation Magazine - Australia for the next 12 months.

I'm probably don't need the demo discs anymore, I think I'm "up to date" if you get what I'm saying ...

Well, some people don't have very big quotas per internet month.
So a demo disc is very convenient for them, since demos are sometimes in the 1.x GB in size.

Demos don't really help? They give you a taste of what's coming!
Either try it out to see if you want to buy the game ...
Or give you something to play around in preparation for a major game (e.g. I really want a Star Wars Force Unleashed demo lol )

but the thing is demos never produce the final quality of a game, yes you can get demos to save time on internet usage, but most people would see this as the easy way to saving time. all i belive helps is the review off the reviewers becuase they will tel us whether it s a sweet game or not, for example wutang if you want the star wars demo your going to obviously want the game, why not wait and save all the excitement for one outburst. as for you mark1308 wouldnt you want to save the money your spending on the magazines for that weekly pack of bubblegum i constantly notice you chewing on at school hehe
but im not saying stop all demos, thats just my opinion, yes i download demos when im bored. but its always up to you, so i hope you have the fun you want with the demos! ta!

Imagine this. If the Haze demo wasn't released ... I reckon more people would have bought the game from their local stores.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I'd rather try out the demo than listen to a reviewer's opinion. They might rate a game 10/10 which I might not even like.

Sure, the demo isn't the final product. But it gives you a general idea of things to come. It's how I decided to purchase EURO 2008, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted.

i buy the meagize becuase i like to keep updated on the latest events of the playstation world, just like i am on this site for the same reason. and by the way, i save moeny on the mag as i hav a subscription. and doesnt everyone need something to read while the r on the dunny haha.
back on topic.....
and sure u r intitled to ur opinion, however warped it may b, i was going to buy the bourne conspiracy, for example, then i played the demo, and as good as it was, i wasnt going to go out and by it as i could c it getting very repetative and linear, so i think demos are a very good idea, and often the demo is the finished product anyway.

Yea, I bought the subscription because I like to read something about the Playstation. Keep on top with upcoming PS3 content

I got a 12 month subscription for $68 or something. I simply HAD to subscribe haha

dude i subscribed to them for that reason the exact month they stopped including the demo's......so pissed off.....then a few months ago they had an issue that came with a disc that had 24 demo's on it. only thing was they were all the same ones that had been released from day 1 on aus ps store only....starting with rub-a-dub demo/darkness etc LOL

Imo, the web is more consistant, and a better source of getting info and being informed than those magazines.

i totally agree. the only reason i wanted it was for the demo's, which is a much cheaper source to get them than the web, especially when you have just set up a 1.5g/month wireless broadband account thinking you were doing it the smart way.......considering the previous 3 or 4 months' issues that came out before i began subscringed had all of each of those months aus psn demo's included with the disk.

so i thought i was going to pay about $150 for a whole years worth of demo's AND online gaming.....when it all stopped and i was forced to install cable bigpond now it hasnt even been a year and ive given them over $1000 easily

Did anyone do the survey in the aus mag? One question asked if we 'the readers' wanted demo's, posters, pens, etc. one option was a usb stick. i think this would be better then a demo disc. the stickes are getting cheaper and greater storage.

PS3 mags with demos? Do they even exist these days? Honestly, there will come a time ( most likelly very soon) when magazines will be completely useless. $15 for the same dribble you can read online, internet or no internet, a cheap visit to a library for access to a computer will give you everything you need to know without having to buy a mag that is usually full of male slobs who get turned on by videogame girls....On topic, your best bet is the official aus magazine...who have gotten so desperate they even chuck in anime movies with their text rag lmao!! xD

I usually get turned on by the games....Resistance 2!! Fallout 3!!!! PRINCE OF PERSIA?!???! OMG OMG

Anyways....

It'd be good if the mags just formed a site, and shifted their content online(This includes video's, interviews as well as pics). And regarding the demo's, they could just simply do other unique things, like offer high-speed server access to patches etc, or 'exclusive' content to customers. I think it's alot more innovative and it would definately generate more traffic from the Australian gaming community.

i just was wondering what you guys thought and this has turned out pretty good.... also i thought that demo discs would be MORE HANDY so you wouldnt have to wait for a demo to be downloaded, and also if you DIDNT have ya PS3 hooked up to the net at all.... AND AND AND demo discs would be handy as you could play it without wasting time on downloading demo if it was **** lol... THEREFORE i wouldnt think they would phase them out at all (even without price issue coming into play)
