PS3 News \ Play TV May Interfere with Game Performance
Lately Sony have been giving bad news to the latest gadget which is coming soon, Play TV, first it was Sony saying they will be cutting HD channel support from the upcoming twin-tuner Digital TV device, and then they told when the promised DRM-free recordings failed to materialize. Well more unfortunate news has struck.
It has been told that enabling the much-touted back-ground recording functionality has brought up a on-screen prompt warning, telling users that potential slowdown could occur whilst playing PS3 games.
There have been no details that have popped up as to the extent of slowdown that recording will cause, the prominent warning will probably suggest it would be a noticeable thing.
Play TV will be hitting stores in America on the 10th of September.

I don't think slow down will be common. The warning is just there so that people won't bitch if slow down ever does occur.

Well der! Games accsess the hard drive for game data, playtv uses the hard drive to record, so of course your gunna get slow down...the same thing happens on a pc if everything tries to use the hard drive at once. Though if you have upgraded your hdd to a bigger one, that has a bigger cache, then this would be less of a problem.

And it will depend on the game, it wont affect all games. but i bet if its a game that relies on constant streaming from the HDD, you might see some slowdown
