Fallout 3 On PS3 Looks Worse Compared to Other Consoles


Fallout 3 is a highly anticipated game for The Pc, Xbox and Ps3. Now PSM confirms the truth on the three version after playing them all.

The Pc version looks great, with nice colours , endless draw distance. this version has been confirmed the best version out of them all. The Xbox version of fallout is more rough with the textures, noticeable, with distant objects unclear. But this version has a solid frame rate. Aside from the mentioned it is almost identical to the PC version of the game. The Playstation Version, looks similar to the 360 version of the game, but with more objects in the distance jagged and rougher, textures arent as good, PSM said the textures were "muddy" up close , choppy frame rate. (especially during the last missions). so dont give your hopes up PS3 owners, this game differs from the other ports.


So, really, the difference between the Xbox and PS3 versions won't hamper your enjoyment of the game in ANY WAY. High-res textures or not, it's still the same huge, epic, absorbing, brilliant adventure.

And if you're bothered by a slightly inferior frame rate and fractionally blurrier textures, then perhaps, yes, you'd best buy the Xbox version, leaving the rest of us to enjoy an almost-identical, equally brilliant, game on PS3, while you smugly inspect concrete textures at terrifyingly close range to reap the full benefit, rather than, say, losing yourself in a 100 hour epic quest in an evocative post-apocalypse. Or having fun.

But as I have said before. I dont care if it looks better on the 360. I only have a PS3 so It really donst worry me. (and my computer woudn't play it any better)

that is really sad. but they will keep porting as long as 360 has the market share and it does, with so much price cuts and exclusives they will retain that market share. i guess just live with it?

i am going to get this on pc instead.

why are they lazy?

they got paid more for the 360, good on them. i would of done the same.

they would of got paid heaps for the exclusive DLC etc for 360, they obviously would skew towards that.

well the acticle sais that both the 360 and PS3 versions are almost the same. the PS3 just looks slightly worse, and both console versions look much worse than the game running on a high end PC.

Your an idiot sometimes Cura something bad gets said about PS3 and you jump on the offensive? This is bad news about Fallout 3 for anyone interested in the PS3 version and there is a fairly big difference ive seen both versions... this may not be down to the PS3 (although it is poorly equipped/designed imo). People need to stop crying like babies here when something bad gets said about PS3 and you need to stop being a member of the forum police lol oh and i have a PS3 before you jump on that one... Yes, and the only time multi platform games look better on the 360 is when it is the lead platform as well.

But what we dont need is trolls on here telling everyone how great the 360 is over the PS3 and trying to do it in their own little "subtle" ways. And thats exactly what this article is doing - its stating all of the negatives of the PS3 version and trying to convince people to change platforms. Therefore it should be removed or re-written cause its bull****.

There is more offensive/defensive going on here about users, rather than Fallout 3 or PS3.

ugh, and dumbnutz, I didn't even comment on the issue at hand, so I'm not sure how I'm defending Sony at all.
Anyway, I don't think this is a big issue at all. It is minor but if it matters that much to you buy a high-end pc, or a 360. As the article says, the rest of us will just enjoy it for what it is.

I'm wondering if there will ever come a time when the core ps3 fanboys will realize sony "exaggerated" the ps3's graphical potential??

The ps3 uses a watered down version of the 7800 nvida chip set as its graphics engine. The cell processor can only do so much to compensate for a chip set that was obsolete before the ps3 launched.

The ps3 is also a pain in the arse to optimize software on due to the systems processing architecture, developers have made comparisons to the saturn.

At the end of the day if inferior graphics bother you buy a gaming pc! The cost isn't as steep as you might think. The ps3 launch price will score you a solid rig.

It only matters because Sony promised big things but news like this is always the case. If Sony had been better equipped with their PS3 then things like this wouldn't happen. The Cell processor might be impressive but without a decent graphics card to back it up nothings gonna change. People arnt gonna buy nor stick with a console that has inferior graphics and costs a damn sight more. IMO the PS3 was poorly equipped because of the cost of Bluray. It might be bad for 360 not having a HDD in its Arcade pack for developers but its even worse how the PS3 has been built. I like my PS3 but for what i payed and for all Sony's promises i expect better. Resistance 2 don't look anything special neither does Killzone 2 graphically, gameplay might be good but come on. Im not trying to troll or annoy anyone its just what i believe, my opinion is all

Just because someone makes a lazy port of a game dosnt mean, for or agaisnt that one console is better than another.

Problem is Uncharted didn't look that great, small closed in areas some undetailed textures in places around 2-3 enemies on screen at any one point. MGS4 also didn't look that great, in cutscenes it was good but when playing it was detailed but lots of jaggies and 720p and also small closed in areas with not many enemies on screen at any one point some of the outdoor scenes looked terrible imo. These games were nothing special. I ask with the PS3s specs what hidden potential is there? really? and whos gonna want to find out first party games maybe but they come about like what once a year?

the 360 is just a pc in a plastic shell, running a custom version of winblows....
BUT it cant do real 1080p (which the ps3 & pc can), you'll need to fork out for the wireless (while the ps3 gets it included and many motherboards come with wireless built these days), mic (while the ps3 can use just about any bluetooth headset and a pc.. well a pc is a pc and you can use anything wth it) & a hard drive & then pay a yearly fee to access demos & to play online...
ohh and you'll need a bluray player if you want to actually watch something decent on that HD tv you've got that graphical powerhouse connected to unless you're luck enought to have the HD_DVD player ... ohh yeah.....

i enjoy my ps3 without all that marketing bull****, i'll buy my console and take it home and play it, no hassle no "oh noes it donts has teh gold live account" and i've got a bloody pc for every thing else (WHICH fyi ****S ALL OVER THE 360, & will surpass the 720 or whatever M$ bring out next)

matters not for moi, the ps3 is for ps3 exclusives and playing games with the mrs & kids on the couch (yo)

If i see Killzone 2, Resistance 2, GT5, Uncharted 2 and God of War3 in 1080 native then i hand it to Sony
