Ea Games have officially announced the fate on their black box division. By closing Black Box, the developers of the poorly sold need for speed undercover and skate. By doing this, EA employees in the black box division are losing their jobs, up to 1,000 employees will be retrenched. This is sad news as the dying franchise need for speed sold poorly after release, and that there is no fate for either games now.

Electronic Arts today as the company announced a "restructuring plan" which boils down to a 10% work force reduction -- amounting to 1,000 people -- and the closure of EA Black Box, the developer best known for Need for Speed and Skate. Black Box is one of "at least nine studio and publishing locations" that will be either consolidating or closing. EA reports the cuts will save $120 million annually, although $55-65 million in restructuring costs will need to be absorbed over the next several quarters. Most of these moves should be completed by the end of March.
