PS3 News \ "9" Trailer Similar to PS3's LittleBigPlanet

The first trailer and footage for Focus Features' mysterious film 9 has hit the web with some striking similarities to a recently released PS3 game.

"9" is a an animated film developed and directed by Shane Acker, it is also produced by veteran director Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. The film uses some of Burton's iconic style of movie making such as 'A Nightmare Before Christmas' and other similar animated movies he's made. Set in a post-apocalyptic world (maybe similar to Fallout 3, but closer to the likes of Terminator Salvation), which is overrun by machines -- only this world is devoid of humans.

The character "9" resemble iconic characters from LBP, only this
sack puppet is a living being. If you can remember in the days of the PSOne, a game called Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, share some reminiscence of his journey and search for others like him as they may be the planet's last hope for survival.

Sackboy

"9" stars the voices of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and will evidentally be in the cinemas on 09-09-2009 (US release).

Burton's a genius, sill prefer the first 2 batmans over all the others (where gotham city was actually gothic) heath was a good joker though.

I have the nightmare before christmas on hd dvd and it looks great, will look into picking up 9 on blu if it lives up to my expectations.

I can't agree with that. Sackboy has been on the media world-wide for what? over 2 years now?!? Resemblance = Yes. Coincidental = I don't really think so. Inspiration for "9" = Most likely!

I just did a quick Google search, and the film 9 is based off a short film by the same name released in 2005. It was created by some guy called Shane Acker, and has apparently won awards.

I wouldn't have a clue what the inspiration for the short film was though.

BTW, judging from the 'extended' trailer, this movie has potential for a new IP on the gaming front if they stick to the actual movie direction and action! (only imo)
