Movie Plus Game Blu-Ray Discs on the Way

The concept is a simple one, a PS3 playable game (most likely a demo at least initially) and tie-in movie on the one Blu-Ray disc. SCEA hardware marketing manager, John Koller has revealed that the hybrid Blu-Ray disc is on the agenda and should be available at some stage during 2009.

"The way that we see the future is that the movie and the game are placed on the same disc," Koller said. He noted that developers of movie tie-in games were especially interested in the concept.

"We will definitely see this stuff this year," he confirmed. Sony is yet to confirm any partnerships, however Koller did mention that two movie-game combos should be on the market by the years end.

Warner Bros Interactive has expressed significant interest in the concept. If the timing had been better a demo of the upcoming Wanted: Weapons of Fate could have been released with the films Blu-Ray disc they stated.
