News \ Turok developer blames PS3 for late arrival

Propaganda Games has blamed the Playstation 3 for Turok not shipping in November 2007, claiming that it took a while to get the PS3 version up to scratch with the 360 version.

In an interview with Oh Canada.com, Josh Holmes of Propaganda explains that development of Turok was finished well on time for the 360 version but the Playstation 3 version took longer because of its notorious problems with the Unreal Engine 3.

The Playstation 3 has had some problems with the Engine in the past. Numerous games have been cancelled or delayed and some, most notably Rainbow Six Vegas, suffered from obvious frame-rate problems.

It does suck that games are getting delayed cause of the PS3, but at least its not a great game, actually there has been a delay of a great game due to the PS3. That would be a lil game called GTA IV. Wish they would fix this problem so the other consoles are not missing. Although I have both 360 and PS3, I would rather play on my 360, and it sucks that some games are getting delayed. Just thank god its not all and only a select few.

PS: Im not a 360 fanboy, I just prefer the system! I got a PS3 for the awesome as exclusive games!!!!

Yeah, I still don't get the whole 'engine' thing and why it would be a problem. But then again if I bothered to read more info on it I would understand. (I haven't got the time )

Not every company has the resources and/or money to do that. That's practically like making 2 different game. It would require a different team.

Its more just that the Unreal 3 engine wasn’t optimized for the ps3 by Epic until they finished Unreal Tournament 3. Which means that all the other devs had to do it them selves in mean time. Which is why it took them longer.

If they built there engine from the ground up to run on ps3 hardware (like Uncharted, burnout and ratchet) then you don’t have to worry about it
