Hi everyone!
Update: As of today we are taking a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TO COPY AND PASTING WHOLE NEWS ARTICLES.
This is causing a lot of problems and if nothing else is just plain copyright infringement. While we do ask that members take the time to submit well written articles, copy and pasting is not a way of doing this.
Anyone found copying and pasting whole articles will have their post deleted (a large kudos penalty) with a message from the admin team. The news article will also be submitted to the news team for follow up.
Can all members who wish to post news, either via a direct news-add or contribution, please read our brand new guide at www.myps3.com.au/
We have set out some guidelines that will assist all of us and we hope that through this guide everyone can get a better understanding of what it takes to submit news-worthy and professional news articles.
Please keep all discussion on this topic in this thread.

We've considered that but it's difficult because there are really only two of us who do the work full-time. We've decided to run this and see the reaction. I'm sure everyone can work together to get the news in as good a shape as possible.

No offence Gaetano but your not even an admin?
If you think about it Admin's are gonna be wasting all their time aswell, checking that it's not copy & pasted instead of using this time to put something into the site themselves!

Actually both Gaetano and myself are admins across all sites. We've spoken to the site specific admin teams and they're happy with what's happening.
News is an important part of a gaming site and we're here to provide a high quality feed

Regarding copyright, this has come directly from the site owner himself. We're held accountable for copyright infringement just like everyone else.

ps gdmatt yours is ok but it would have been better if you used the [quote ] [/quote ] tags and abriveated the suff you copyed so that is a quote taken from your source

If I understand what you're saying, no, forums and the news feed have different rules. Forums are discussions.

Well like I said this has come direct from MrPS3, site owner, it's not up for discussion and we're not going to change our stance on this.

The forums and news feed have separate policies. Unless we have a prior agreement with another news site, it is infringing. Other sites that do it are themselves infringing on other peoples work.

Unfortunately this isn't the case, you can quote what people have said ie: Today, CEO of Megastorm Games said that 'This christmas is going to be the best ever for our customers' but beyond that you're still copying and pasting, admittedly in fancy gray text

I think these new guide lines are great, not only does it help with making the Mysites look more professional by having original content, it gives us credibility, wouldn't you rather MyPS3 be known as a great source for news or be known as just a bunch lazy people stealing other peoples work.
So don't think of it as more work for nothing, actually sit down and take the time to rewrite the article, you might be able to improve it, your readers and your self will appreciate the work more.
Also take into account when you steal articles from another site it's not fair on the person that has spent their time researching and writing that work for someone to just come along and copy it.
