okay, I don't study law but the single first thing that a uni student should worry about is referencing your sources. As far as I know, when a work is completed, it is automatically held under the copyright act. If you are to use the work then you must ackowledge the composer and the location of the work.
You guys may simply think that nothing can happen on the Internet if you copy and paste; think about it....it is a copyright infringement and the composer has rights to legally appeal - hence they can sue you.
So before you copy and paste a news story, remember to ackowledge the source.
