Blu-ray \ The Fifth Element - Remastered?

Does anyone know if our local version of The Fifth Element is the remastered version? I see in the US the original release on Blu-ray wasn't and it was re-released so was just wondering which version we have?

If you mean the bluray version it would have to be remastered to be the right resolution etc. Unless the US had a better treatment or something but i think thats unlikely. Is the packaging different? Try looking it up on Hi Def digest (use google) that should say definitively

No probs - Im going to get this release soon - the movie wasnt that good but the producition and effects were superb - and err its got Milla Jovovovovovovich in it, mmmm

I picked up Fifth Element (totally love the movie) on Blu-ray a while back, from JB, and then later read about the original release versus remastered. All I can say is it does look brilliant at 1080p, very crisp and vibrant. My DVD version looks like a smear in comparison.

New version is dual layer, 35.7GB. Picture is MPEG4 AVC (compared to original's MPEG2). Four audio tracks: English and Spanish 5.1 16 bit/48kHz LPCM, English and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 @ 448kbps.

In short: The only BD that is sold in Aust shops, is equivalent to the US Remastered one, our disc's are identical, except that our BD misses out on a new 48kHz/20-bit English Dolby TrueHD audio option that was included on the US Remastered BD.

Since Dolby TrueHD gets converted and transferred down the HDMI cable as LPCM anyway, it's not great loss at all, sine we already HAVE the LPCM track included.

I brought my copy from amazon a while back, its the remastered one .. and lets just say milla in super HD 1080 on a 142" screen with surround sound ... i can loose myself in this movie. This has to be the most underrated movie in all time.

- Great Cast (Bruce, Gary, Milla, Chris to name a few)
- Some Funny Shizznat
- Superb Audio
- Great Sound Track
- Stunning Visuals

Absoltely LOVE this movie and have done since i first saw it way back in the movies the first time.
