Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction Description:

Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for the PlayStation 3 is one that fans of the series have been demanding since its tech demo during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2006. Now, it appears that the details are out, and the factoids they released have certainly piqued our interest.

Apparently, the game engine will be the same as Resistance: Fall of Man, albeit a modified version of it. They will not be outsourcing the engine from Naughty Dog. In addition, the game is already running at 45 frames per second (fps). Many next-gen games are pushing at 30 fps right now, so that is an impressive feat in itself. Insomnia is pushing for the full 60 fps for the final release though.

Space combat will be scripted, with your space fighter moving through a predefined path. You can dodge within your screen though. How this "linearization" will be accepted by the community is still unknown.

With regards to the rumors of a love interest for Ratchet, it seems he will be teaming up with Talwyn, a female Lombax (Ratchet's race), who's searching for her father. No word if this is the "love interest" we (and Ratchet) have been waiting for.

Also, when comparing the story line for R&C:ToD with a character in R&C2, there is a bit of a plot hole. lol
Like I said, no spoilers, so no details. lol

Don't get me wrong though, it is a good game. Can't wait for another one.

I must say I didn't think this one was as good as the PS2 titles. I think R&C2 was easily the best one: it was easily the most challenging and had the best replay value. Up Your Arsenal was fun, but I couldn't really get into it.

Tools of Destruction had promise, especially being a PS3 title, but overall I found it lacking. The game was too short, the story and characters underdeveloped, and any skills and moves you learn are only used once or twice, so there's no real point to them. It lacked the need to visit planets more than twice, leaving the levels feeling minimalistic, with little to nothing to discover outside the required area of play.

Don't get me wrong. This was my first PS3 game, and was fun... but it certainly can't compete with the PS2 titles.

True, I only started Play Ratchet and Clank because all my friends didn't Play Jak and Daxter so then I just Fell into Peer Pressure. But i still Prefer Jak games Better

1) rent out Ratchet and clank 3 on ps2 (1 and 2 will be harder to find)
2) watch trailers and gameplay trailers on youtube
3) ask your friends about the game

then you will know if its the kind of game for you... or if your like me and you cant be bothered to do all that then just wait till it comes out and see what everyone thinks, if you liked jak and daxter 1,2 and 3 then you will proberbly like this too

instead of "thinking" it would be boring why dont you hire them on PS2 and actually play them first.
