i have 2 of these hdmi cables and they are very good quality and haven't ran into any problems.

As mentioned Shelby is awesome with a proven history (search dtvforum) and they also offer money back guarantees, and their prices are a lot better than that.

BigW actually has reasonably quality cables for a good price. Hith HDMI the actual cable quality itself isn't that big an issue, more the termination (eg, good contact, no dry joints).

For optical? No way. Absolutely no way. And I honestly doubt anyone could measure any improvement between a good quality component cable like a Selby Acoustic and monster. You just pay a lot of money for fat sheathing and advertising. You know their s-video cables didn't even have the shield connected? Most manufacturers don't bother but FFS if you pay $200 for a cable it should be the complete. But no, the outer shield is not terminated.

Seriously, it would take them (the manufacturer) $80 to make a good quality HDMI cable, then they sell it for $500 by advertising all these craps about their "good quality" and how they are the best ones.

Guys, don't buy any cables that cost over $200, because they are not worth it.

HDMI = digital, so there can be no loss of quality, if the output is 100%, the input will be 99.99% minimum. Only the build quality and the type of connector (gold recommended) that matters.

Yes, Optical = digital, so there can hardly be any degradation.
