just wondering , has the PS3 got virus protection of any sort? i dont really use the PS3 to go on the net but would just like to know. would suck if it got something on it and you cant get it off

ps3 can have internet protection, trend micro. if you press triangle in the browser look for security option

because its not a computer, its a console it just like saying the wii can get a virus or xbox even, just because it has a browser doesn't mean it will get a virus

Outside your window, behind those trees..
you see the difference between the PS3 and a PC is that a PC will allow any program (well as long as you can get it to compile 
) that is put on it. But the PS3 will only run programs that are digitally signed by Sony.(which is why it doesn’t have any homebrew).
So unless some one was to hack Sony’s update servers and send out a firmware update that was to just brick your ps3. Then I think you will be totally safe.

when i was the host of a comp in bejing two users were called v12345to19034 and v123456to34567 does this sound like a viruses and if so what can i do to fix this i boted them out after one event will my ps3 have any problems

The only real danger is through flash applications, java plug-ins. However the worst that can happen is that the browser will freeze. Google "browser security test", most tests will tell you where your browser is vulnerable and / or try and crash your browser. The PS3 OS is unique and not like a PC, any "nasties" would need to be written in that code...which is known only to Sony. I'm pretty sure the PS3 is probably the safest way to surf the net.

why would you be downloading any kinda thing that can contain a virus onto the playstation anyway? torrents etc doesnt work on it. neither does WinRar etc.

Until there is a crack for the ps3 or modchip that allows you to run unassigned code then there is no way in hell a virus on the ps3 or 360 will ever work and google is wrong

Oh I meant google was telling me about torrents on ps3 not viruses on ps3. Yeah no viruses full stop.

It would be very hard near impossible to program a virus for the ps3, the main reason is its a closed binary arch and its PPC base which suffers from less exploits compared to the PC x86 arch (winblows).

simple, dont install linux so you wont get a virus.
