GTA IV \ Rockstar Screws Microsoft on GTA IV

Gameplayer published an article a few weeks back called Microsoft in GTA IV Panic in which we detailed how the industry giant was stressing about the number of PS3 consoles the release of GTA IV would ship over Xbox 360s. We argued that this was evident in the way Microsoft had gone about marketing the Xbox 360 version of the game. We also pointed out how Sony had, it appeared, done very little in response (you’ll have to read it for the full explanation).
Now we know why.
As you have no doubt read, it has come to light that a new version of the PS3 will be made available in time for the launch of GTA IV. It is the 40GB model of the console, but it comes bundled with GTA IV. This is a big, big deal. Especially as the package doesn’t cost any more money than the unbundled version of the console.
The deal is only officially announced for a UK release, but we’ve been given the tip-off that Australia will receive the deal too… in fact we’ve heard unconfirmed reports that some retailers are already promoting it. And if it is making it all the way to little ‘ol Oz, then it should hit every other major territory as well.
This is a massive blow for Microsoft, who has already lowered the Xbox 360’s price point in Europe, and paid US$50 million for downloadable content in an attempt to lure the 12 million-odd PS2 owning GTA fans away from the Sony brand. www.gameplayer.com.au/

This has to be the "Touching moment" of the year Award 
I don’t know if the GTA bundle will go to Japan and America.
If its a SCEE(Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) deal then its quite possible that it will only be in the European territories.
just like we aren’t getting that 80gig dual shock 3 metal gear solid 4 bundle that the US are getting.
Still it is very interesting. And it is really going to help the ps3 out in the European territories.

Just in advance, anyone who says "suffer xbox" blah blah, consider that 360 owned PS3 in 2007. That's just to hopefully stop anyone coming in here and flamming/starting a fanboy war.
Anyway, great news for Sony and the PS3. Another reason why the PS3 will own 2008.

nothing at all. it just comes with GTA IV in the box for the same price as you would normaly pay for the console.

ms just shot themselves in the foot. now what would you choose. a brand new console with the big gta for the standard ps3 price, or buy the game because of episode content, and therfore buy the 360 and pay additional for the game

i thought xbox was also releaseing a bundled version. Like with the xbox and game cuz i saw theres this one with GTA coverart on the xbox. So wouldnt they just cancel each other out???

No that was just a limed edition 360 with the GTA IV cover art painted on. They only made 500 of those.

oh true! Then yeah of course you would buy the bundled ps3 fo sur!!! Wonder why microsoft didnt do something like that??? Obviously its a console selling game as im sure allot of people are just waiting till its released so that they have a good excuse to buy a next gen console. So makes sence to do it.

How exactly has ms "shot themselves in the foot" for something Sony has achieved? You have to consider that people who want gta iv probably already have a 360 or PS3. GTA IV will sell PS3 consoles, it won't sell 360 consoles. we didn't need this bundle to tell us that. That bundle adds nothing to that quality and/or content available. Just because the DLC doesn't interest you, doesn't mean it doesn't interest 360 owners who want to own the extra content.
Also, other DLC content for other games on PS3 seems to generate plenty of discussion and interest on here. Yet the 360 exclusive DLC for GTA IV gets bagged and such and you all make out like you don't care. Yet, if it was also available on PS3 (and it probably will be soon), you'll be jumping at it.
Some of you really need to get your fanboyism checked out; it's taking over you.

EDIT: I kinda agree with Gaetano, whats with the 360 hate? Its a great console like the PS3, did a 360 fall from the sky and land on your heads? Did some M$ employee knock on your door and smack you with a 360 or some shiz?
