The title says it all i'm looking at buying a tv in the coming months for my ps3. the way things are going, its gonna be a 32 inch lcd tv, but i cant decide which brand to get (samsung/lg/sony/etc?) my budget is about 1 grand.

any recommendations? anything i should be aware of ie response time, etc?

Thanks in advance!

Cant go too wrong with a Sony or Samsung, I have a Samsung 42" Full HD LCD & games look amazing on it. I think it comes down to personal preference in the end but im sure a few more technically minded people will post in here with some advice.

Any of the MAJOR brands will be fine. There is little between then these days.

Any HD LCD regardless of quality will be way better than playing on SD. It depends on your budget. You can get a lower range FULL HD lcd 42" tv for about $1699 from Bing Lee. It depends on your budget. If you want awesome, then go a 50" X series Bravia.. nothing beats it. But if you're on a low budget, go for whatever you can afford. There will be minimal differences between all TV's at this price.

this Motion Flow thingy - does it work on games? i read a review on cnet saying it doesnt really affect games, and it makes movies slightly artificial looking.

yeah i know - does your bravia support full hd? the way things are going, i'll have to increase my budget to prob 1500, but the same questions comes up again.

unknown brand for bigger screen, or known brand for smaller screen, with that budget?

Age old question mate, quality or quantity? Go in the store and look at the quality between the different TV types. Only person that can decide is you. Personally, I love my 42", and couldn't settle for any smaller. The quality is perfect for me, in everything I do. DVD's, blurays, 1080p gaming - all come up perfect. You compare a $1699 (probably cheaper for cash) LCD against the equivalent Bravia X-Series, and I can tell you - there's certainly not $3000 worth of difference there.

i havent read much about toshiba yet.. generally samsung has been getting better comments than sony, due to its price being lower. otherwise they're both quite identical.

really? so it doesnt affect games then?

Forget about "Full HD" (or 1080P) in 32". There are a couple around, I think Sharp make 1, but they don't justify the added cost, ie $1700 - $1800 against <$1000 for a Samsung LA32R81BDX. These are awesome TV's I know 6 people with them (& I have a 46" F series & a 26" R81). No-one can say a bad thing about them. Mate who bought 1 when they first came out 2+ years ago paid $2400 and doesn't regret it, another friend just got 1 2 weeks ago for $950.

But like all major electronic purchases, I highly recommend extended waranty.

PS, I also think the Bravia's are just as good, It's just personal choice and seems better deals are usually available on the sammy's

if you can strech your budget get a samgung 42" full 1080p lcd i bought one yesterday from jbhifi an its simply amazing but i specificly wanted a 1080p lcd

well worth it over 32" 1080p model (worst price vs preformance)

but as others have said the samsung 32" 720p\1080i model you can get for $950-$1000 is "almost" as good as the 32" 1080p lcd they had blu ray running on both of them side by side in store an they were "almost" the same quality

id steer clear of the bravia's ive had a few mates have major issues with them i cant remeber if it was the x or s series

yeah it looks like thats the way to go.. 40/42" full hd instead of 32 ". and you're right - its much better bang for buck. i hope it'll fit in my room though

which model is this samsung 42" full hd tv? got a link? at shopbot they're only listing 40"hd tvs.. jbhifi dont state model numbers, or they're too damn small to read online..

Samsung don't make 42" LCD's, just 40".
Models available in OZ:

LA40R81BDX 720P
LA40N81BDX 1080P
LA40M81BDX 1080P older model but rated above N series.
LA40F81BDX 1080P 100hz
