Metal Gear Online region locked
It seems that Metal Gear Online will be region locked. If you translate this Konami-Asia page it reads:
“The server connected MGO notice”
The game itself is a server in Japan. Whether in English or Japanese.
However, the purchase of the licensed importer of the same players, the Japanese version of the English players and players can not Versus.
If you need to play games with your friends, you must purchase the same language version.
Not a licensed importer of commodities, have the opportunity to be well connected.
Moreover, we will not provide any assurance and have the opportunity unable to provide any services.
There could be a patch or an update in the future to allow multi regions to play against each other. This happened in Call of Duty 4.

Ok... Just finished playing a couple of matches online, and from what I saw, no us or asian servers are running (guessing by the fact that the game hasn't been out for that long)... lag is non-noticeable, the double death bug happens ONLY if you push to respawn too quickly (I waited 3 secs b4 each respawn). Great fun, but for the time being, I would say server locked... I'll let you know more tomorrow this time...

Could an aussie (with the oz MGO) with a yank or pom on their friends list please check to see if you can play in a match together.
There is still a thick layer of fog covering this issue.

yeah that would be great.. i'm waiting for my (asian LE) copy to arrive hopefully today, and i should have friends that have the au copy. i'll be able to try it tonight and let you guys know
anyone else have any success in trying this out?
Well I saw a LOT of what looked like european matches last night... so maybe we're thrown into the same region as EU (in regards to server locking...)

i've got the asian version of MGS4.. anyone wanna try MGO to see if we can see each other? so far i cant tell who i'm playing against, but its only been 20 minutes

Last time I was online with GTA4 (I have an American version), the other players had accents so I asked them where they were from. They replied "America".

yeah i do.. its connected now but i havent tested it out properly due to me multitasking with
1) drinking
2) this forum
3) organising plans for going out tonight

so far not really.. hahah yeah looks like it, since i'm one of the first on this forum to have an overseas copy of mgs4(which might've been a dumb move)!! i'm gonna log in again and ask those guys where're they from. damn the controls are quite different from before

yeah generally MGO is working fine and dandy, but i cant confirm yet if im able to play aussie players online 
dont know any aus players on MGO, besides shadowblade. and i cant search for him yet as he has to be logged on for me to add him to my MGO friends list..
i'll try again tom, as i'm going to the local pub now

in australia, imported from hong kong, and i still cant determine what servers i am playing in

Well I'm from Europe and I was planning to import it from the US but then I heard that region lock rumor, wanna know if it was really true.
I guess it's not, it probably connects you to servers based on the region you chose on the Konami ID registration. It's also normal for Europe/Austrialia to be put together on the same servers, like in Motorstorm.

i've just been playing with a bunch of americans... one guy told me that it WAS region locked in beta, but im yet to confirm that. anyone with an au copy wanna try to add me on MGO?
