I'm not sure, i haven't played Civ revo, but i have played Civ 3 and Civ 4 and i remember going through the same thought process. Now i'm not sure if its the same, but basically you need to destroy the city defences before you bother trying to attack. and you better make sure you've got a good army to attack with. But take a catapult? or whatever it is to reduce the city defence to 0% before attacking.

Well "technically" it did come out today, but there was no street date for it - so it came out yesterday along with MGS4 and GRID.

It doesnt, it just has "???" - and its a pain in the arse, cause i just read the manual and it looks like the only way to sack a city is to keep at it - but i seriously dont know where they got their armies from.. but anyway, i'm trying to take over their capital to wipe em out (Zulu's) so thats prob why its way hard. It was never this hard in Civ3 though

Not really, it kinda sucks actually... i mean by all right i should have wiped the Zulu's out hundreds of years ago, because im just so technologically advanced and have the best units, but its like an unfair advantage where they constantly respawn faster than any other civ. Its annnoying as all hell... thats the ONLY downside to this game so far, taking over 1 city is like some massive boss fight that never ends.

Yeah, spacesteve is right. I think that is what the problem will be. I am glad there is quite a bit of interest about this, I thought MGS would steal the spotlight completely. But this game has always had tons of followers so hopefully this one will be similar.

Hell yeah Civilization is an awesome series, i was really hanging out for this one and its lived up to my expectations. But i mean just small things from Civ3 that i miss not having, like being able to rename cities, having the choice to either sack or run a city, problems with taking over the city, stuff like that. I finally got the hang of it though, its simply a matter of piling about 3 armies on top of each other and just cutting sick - if you cant take over the city in 1 turn then they respawn and although it'll be easier to knock em over on 2nd turn, your army is weak also - so sometimes you lose.

But its an awesome game.. just i still miss a lot of the stuff taken out from Civ3.. and unfortunately the new additions arent major standouts, so its a little annoying in that respect.

Hmmmm I just finished the demo and came out on top in all categories. That was good fun. I smashed the zulu, aztec, greek civs then went for the egyptias but ran out of time. Its so addictive though. Just love that type of game. Need more of them.

Really? Wow... i mean i know they've cut some of the features back, but its not bad enough to warrant returning it IMO. I'd give it an 8/10... its one of those games you can just play for ages and never get tired of it - and come back like a year later and do it all again. It just never gets old.

Well I haven’t played Civ rev yet. But that’s kinda how I’m looking at it. While its not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Its a Civ game designed for the consoles and that’s not really what i want from my Civ games. I love Civ 4 so dam much, so I think I might just stick with that.

Depend what game mode you do cause i was playin and it gave me 3 names to choose from or custom name!

Really? Man i have to get my arse into gear and explore some more i think... how many game modes are there? Because ive tried Play Now and Single Player - and neither one allows it.. and neither one lets you choose the map stats either (how big it is, the terrain, etc). Oh and in Civ3 you were able to create your own nationality - and unless im missing something CivRev doesnt support that?
