Buy/Sell/Trade \ anyone tried trading an imported game at eb?

hey guys.. has anyone tried to trade an imported game at eb for store credit? more so if its a copy of a game not available in aus, like the american gtaiv? did it work?? i'm thinking of trading my asian MGS4 for the aussie one, due to the possibility of MGO being region locked...
maybe if i'm lucky i'll get a not-so-wise salesguy?

I've done it a million times. They don't mind taking import PS3 games as they're region free. But if it has NOT/or NEVER been (yet been) released here yet, then they will NOT take it.
As for the unedited version of GTA IV...well they might take it for private use, as far as I know, because the other day I asked a JB's manager about trading GTA IV in and she said that she'll gladly take my unedited copy off my hands, but it sure will not go on the shelves for retail sale, but it'll go to her mates (personal/privately).

You can try it but they probebly wont let you. Unless they have an on-site testing facility import games are a big no-no. I've denied **** loads of people so far.

It wasn't EB, but I managed to trade-in an American copy of Surf's Up at JB. I guess I was lucky?
But my mate tried to trade-in an Asian copy of Assassin's Creed at the same JB, but was denied. The guy even tested it to make sure it was in English and everything.

wutang and djrussell...That's strange? I've never had a problem (never been denied) with Melbourne EB and JB retailers.

Well I guess the best way is to trade them when they're busy and have a long line... they would not be as inspective ?

I had to trade in 2 games for MGS4 right? So I put the Australian copy of Blazing Angels on top, hoping he wouldn't notice the American Surf's Up beneath it. I was hoping I would be able to get away with it.
But he had to input the SKU into their system, and obviously he couldn't retrieve it because it wasn't an Australian game. But he let me get my copy of MGS4 anyway.

I don't trade-in games at all. I only did it last week to get a copy of MGS4. And also because EB Games is having a nicely timed sale.

I saw an import copy of Madden on PS3 at EB the other day and yesterday I saw a pre owned Asian copy of Genji at JB. The blurb and everything was in an Asian only in small text it said Genji on the front.

You cant SCAN in the game at EB - if its an import it simply wont come up. The people looking up the name manually arent meant to be doing that cause imports are forbidden unless you actually test it in front of you.

djrussel - i think at least the major games can be scanned into their system..
i just got back from the shops - and i managed to swap my asian mgs4, went to some other shops in the mall, and then i went back to that eb store to buy the aus mgs4 with my previously attained store credit. and i even price matched it with jb, so i got it for 99bucks. good times
now i'll be able to play mgo without any hassles.. i'll post up this news in the MGO region lock thread in a bit

I tried to trade my xbox3600 USA copy of Assissin's Creed there but they wouldn't take it, strange coz i saw them selling a secound hand copy of a NTSC game there, anyway i sold my game on eBay & got more money there then i would have with EB games
