You can play them by yourself or with friends at home but they cant be played online against others & you cant mix them into the normal version of the game so every round has to be a user created round, so you cant mix & match regular disc rounds with user created rounds.

I haven't seen the Australian ad. We designed Sofa vs Sofa to be team
based, so that your sofa works collectively and answers via one buzzer.
We're making a small change to let any buzzer answer.

We'll be posting new information on the forthcoming patches in the
official Sony Buzz! forum [1].
