Well, early last year, could be up to 18 months ago. 18 months ago, there were a lot of issues with hardware combinations being supported and working together effectively under vista. So I'm saying, that people here who 'hate' vista, have probably had issues somewhere along the line, trying to get things to work together - where as the people that think vista worked great, were probably the people that brought pre-loaded vista machines that were bound to always work well anyway, due to the fact that they were all specifically designed to work with vista.
I've got an HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop, that came pre-loaded with vista. Works a charm, love it. Never had a problem with it - Aero just seems to slow things down a tad, and I imagine that people with 'bunged together' or 'older' computers, may notice more problems if they dont have decent hardware - even moreso with things like Aero running.

Edit: I run Home premium, came with the package, with an 8400M GS video chipset.. just to clear up your assumptions.
