David Reeves (SCEE CEO): 12 Announcements to be made at Leipzig

Buttonmasher writes: At least two of the big players at E3 commented about announcements not made at E3 and games that were not on show. There has been no comment from Microsoft about the lack of Alan Wake at E3 but both Sony and EA are making hints that their Leipzig lineups contain something that a lot of people went away wanting after E3, new stuff.

Since an interview with Todd Sitrin in March, which mentioned that there were two new sports IP’s in the works at EA, there has been a lot of talk about what they could be and when they will show their faces. Facebreaker is almost upon us and so it is that we start looking to the future and what we will be playing next.

In my time with Peter Moore we talked about these games and when we might be finding out what they will be. While talking about the importance of globalisation and the timing of the announcements of these new titles he said the following.

“You’ll hear some interesting announcements come Leipzig”

Fairly blunt and to the point. The full interview will be in one of the next ButtonMasher Podcasts.

The second bits of information came from Sony. At the PAL specific press briefing David Reeves said that they had about 12 announcements to make at Leipzig, far more than what made its way out at E3.

Oh callan it turns out that Heavy rain was shown at E3, but only to a very small group and they aren't allowed to talk about it

And as for E3, I think its just at a bad time for new games to be shown. As it’s too late in the year for you to first announce a game that is coming out the same year. but too early to show some of the games that might be coming next year.

It was really terrible. The PR, PS2 and PSP junk consumed most of the conference. So obvious they're saving all their trump cards for Leipzig. The GoW3 trailer was weak...beyond weak...not to mention the MAG CG clip.

E3 is a dieing event since it went industry only.

I've always preferred the TGS over E3, since E3 lost its glitz, glamour and razzle dazzle a few years ago it has gotten progressively worse with the closed door conferences and whatnot. I thought this E3 was pretty good when it came to quality games. Resistance 2, Siren, Gears of War 2, FFXIII, Killzone 2 etc etc. But i really miss the spectacle of yester E3's thats for sure.

lol , no you are kinda right , there wasnt a wow factor was there , just the same old titles , its just i thought games that were shown were all key titles and i enjoyed all of there trailers

Even if this year's E3 wasn't exactly all that and a bag of chips, there will be another one. And you know what? It will be next year. That's right negative humanoids, the Electronic Software Association is plotting E3 2009. Says an ESA rep:

As we do every year, we're beginning the process of surveying exhibitors and attendees to determine potential changes to the Summit. Once this is completed and shared with the ESA's Board of Directors, we will make an announcement about the specifics of the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit, which will occur.

Maybe they'll move it back to Santa Monica again to keep everyone on their toes. Or how about Pasadena? Bring it to Orange County!

I didnt mind the E3 conferences for Sony and Microsoft, they had some interesting things to talk about and i was quite intrigued. I want Resident Evil 5 more than any other game right now, so to see a heap of footage for the game made me very excited.

Only downside was Wii's conference, they were the laughing stock of the show, and they did extremely well in that department
