Just curious...

Its a shame, my buddy and I used to be a gaming tag team and I realise he has a wife now and different priorities, but I don't understand why people give up who they are for women/men.

I was showing him COD4 the other night and it's so sad because my sister and his wife were in the other room chatting and even though I'm in another room with him, he's staring from the room "TRYING" to like interject himself into their conversation, or to be like "oh hey my wife, looky here, im still listening!"...its like wow dude just let it go a bit.

i actually started gaming more when i moved in with my missus (i know its not marriage but close enough)

I hate how people have preconceptions of how they should act or how their partner should change once they have a ring on their finger.

Marriage (and a new one at that) is a pretty big thing Gaetano. Your friend was possibly very eager to make sure his new wife was feeling comfortable and not 'neglected' in that situation.

Whether or not you think he should be doing that or not - sorry pal that part aint up to you!

I actually think your post is coming from jealousy that you have lost your gaming mate now he's married. Am I close?

If you need to make someone feel comfortable AFTER marriage, you got married too early...

i guess its just growing up. i dont play as much now as i did when i was single and didnt live with the mrs. im getting married next year and pretty quickly after that looking at kids+house. i wont have much time for games then and considering what ill have going on i probably wont care much that im not playing games anymore.

i like games, but in the end they are just games and life can be much more exciting.

Gaetano - good luck with your marriage mate when it happens. So once you get married its all ok to not feel like you need to make sure your wife is comfortable?

Riiiiiiight.

I see your comments of 'you got married too early' is almost something you really feel like saying to your mate is it?

I dont think its your mate that needs the reality check - its you. PS3 shouldnt dominate your life. Its not ALL about gaming man.

SU8TLE congratulations on your future plans. You are looking at those next steps in life the right way thats for sure. Mate im married with 2 young kids - sure I dont play PS3 heaps - but I get a game in every now and then and that keeps me happy.

why should anything change cos youve gotten married? you're still the same couple but with rings on your fingers. why should he be making his wife comfortable now, when he didnt have to in the past (just say)

when you have kids, different story.

cmjk - video-games was an example. That was just one example. He is totally and utterly focused on her. That's all fine and good, but there have been numerous times where he has totally ignored myself and other mates (footy trip is most recent) to focus on a women who gives him no where near as much attention as he gives her. And FYI, it's not like she doesn't know my sister and needs comforting. Believe me, gaming does not dominate my life. And yes, I am sad that I've practically lost a mate.

The reason I've brought this up is because I compare him to another mate who has been engaged for 2 years but hasn't changed at all, and my cousin who got married last December and still makes time for his friends. I guess you don't understand that this guy has totally done a 180 since getting married.

I don't know why kind of friends you have, but a majority of my friends in relationships, both male and female, hardly change.

You are 100% right Gaetano - I dont know the full situation at all. So perhaps there are other major indicators at play here too.

I respect that.

And Id like to say I respect the fact that we have kept this a discussion and not letting an emotive topic get out of hand.

I still think though that this guy sounds utterly devoted to her. Possibly at the detriment of his mates - but man he's MARRIED to her. I think you are honest with yourself in saying you are sad you have lost a mate - and thats possibly the reason behind all this.

To be honest I actually agree with what you are saying...........but this is how this guy chooses to handle his relationship. *shrug*

Gaetano, if all else fails, you could always get your mates new wife drunk and make her cheat on your friend, they'll divorce up and you can have your best gaming bud back.

Nah but seriously, he's probably just in the honeymoon stage of their marriage still. He'll eventually get over it and come back to you and to games. Some people just act a bit differently when they get a woman. I know, i had a friend and i use to go over to his nearly every weekend get drunk and play video games. He always use to trash talk about our other friend who use to bail cause they had girlfriends and what not, but as soon as he got one. I haven't done a drunken gaming night with him in over 4 months. When i have seen him during that time he's a completely different man, not his usual self. It's not a bad thing, it's just people change when they start a new relationship/marriage. True friend will always come back when i dies down, and if they don't i guess there really not that good a friend.

The day i get married is the day my life ends.....i could not give two hoots about having a dime around my finger and getting spoon fed all these lovely warming promises that wont mean sh!t 5 years later down the track when my "one and true love" is getting pissed and having a fling with another women behind my back, i can still have a wedding...but doesnt mean i have to have a partner, and i can still wear a ring on my finger. I like the idea of a dress and ring, but screw the committments
