On my 40GB it has Tekken on it, how do i go about putting all my data onto the new harddrive? And will i still be able to play Tekken?

in settings there is a backup option. plug in your usb, and let it do its thing.. i think this copies all the save data across..
pop in your new hdd, and choose the option to reboot your backup.

note: you'll have to d/l all your psn games again, though each purchase has 5 downloads, so you wont have to pay again
that hdd sounds good, just make sure it's SATA, IDE won't work

Does it make a difference? are they backwards compatible or whatever?
I'll probs upgrade my current 40GB to a 320 or something later towards Xmas.. for now.. i gotta sort out how i'm gunna sell my incoming 40GB (same deal as iaculch - free PS3 with 40" Bravia) and then buy an 80GB when they come out.

I upgraded my PS3 HDD just yesterday... if you've got an external hard-drive, backup the entire system onto that... or if you're poor like me and cant afford one (haha) then just copy all your save files, images, videos, etc over to a couple of thumbdrives manually. I lost a few demos and some PSN downloads - but they're easy enough just to redownload.
