Genji Days Of The Blade - 5/10
When you have just forked out $1000 smackers for a shiny slick new slice of next gen gaming goodness, you expect the best in games (well not everything can be 10/10 but you know what i mean)and from a visual perspective, boy does Genji deliver, this is one spicing hot title to look at, it really is one beautiful slice of eye candy. Ok, so you know it looks good, but how does it play? Will this game keep me going for a long time? Well if you hate bad news then dont read the rest of this review, because believe me it does get worse
I'm all for games looking good, and Genji does look good, but this doesnt account for much when the gameplay seems so disjointed and frustrating to play, and not frustrating in a good way either like Ninja Gaiden. Genji's frustrating gameplay is due to its poor camera angles which sometimes has you're character hidden from your site with enemies crowding over you, to me it seems like a design flaw and one that should have been fixed before final release. On a plus note, during the journey you are treated to some lovely environments and challenging boss battles to keep you slightly entertained during the one night rent time you have with it * I cant see too many people buying this game*. There is also some beautiful cut scenes that will make you cry *if you werent crying already on how bad the game plays that is*
Graphics: Gorgeous, everything looks great, the characters are heavily detailed, the environments are easy on the eyes, and some of the effects from you're magical weapons are quite nice too. Little visual things like flickering flames in the burning temple, russling trees in the jungle areas and flowing waterfalls are all great and FMV's are in a league of there own.
Sound: The Japanese inspired sounds really suit the mood of the game, they are very fitting. But if you really want to experience the japanese feel of the title i suggest switching voice acting audio to japanese with english subtitles not unless you like watching a clearly Japanese Samurai talking like his from a western country.
Gameplay: A frustrating, repetitive experience indeed with horrible camera angles destroying any potential fun you might have with this game. Its pure trial and error gameplay and should not be in video games today.
Overall, Genji looks superb but does nothing else to enhance its appeal, unless you are a serious and i mean serious hardcore fan of samurais/ninjas and the like then give it a go. But for the rest of us, leave it as a rent, because once you finish the game *if you even bother that is* then there is absolutely nothing left for you to do.

By the way mine were developer quotes too, they were mentioned in the early E3 preview demo, so yeah...shows what you know too i guess, which isnt too much.

God, look at those giant enemy crabs... can you really attack their weak point for massive damage? One last thing, what's it like actually being able to change your weapon in real time? Pretty "next-gen" huh?
