Definantely not. Wireless 802.11g will run at 54Mbps (thats Mega BITS, not bytes) and the max internet connection speed in Aus at the moment is 24Mbps.

Wait so is wireless in fact better than the wired connection in terms of speed. I'm not a mbps kbps buff. I've got a basic $100 wireless router but still connect my ps3 via the cable chord, I use the wireless for my laptop.

The setup i use is a wireless router but i have CAT5 sockets in the walls of my loungeroom and my bedroom which i have naturally linked those up to the spare sockets in my router. I only use wireless for my laptop when i wanna go outside and use it really

Wired internet is A LOT faster than wireless internet (speaking 802.11g). Here's an easier idea:

Wireless: Max speed 54mbps

Wired: Max speed 1gbps (thanks to gigabit ethernet)

So it depends on the aesthetics...would you like to see a wire or not? If aesthetics is not a factor then surely wired would be a better choice for a more stable and faster connection.

wireless is only bad if you signal is low and my ps3 is only 2 meters away from the router so no chance of signal loss

I prefer the speed, security and reliability of wires. I'm lucky enough to be able to snake the bits of CAT 5 around my place in such a way that there's no risk of tripping over them.

If I didn't have that luxury I would go wireless, and make DAMN SURE that security is enabled! I have a friend that had his entire monthly download quota pirated because his wireless network wasn't secured.
