Hi guys

In about 2 months I will be moving out of my current student accommodation into a proper apartment. I'm currently using Unwired wireless broadband service as my room does not have it's own landline restricting me to faster internet services. It's been a messy year in online gaming as Unwired only offers 1mb/256kb under it's so called "fastest" monthly plan. Now that my new apartment (within the Melbourne city centre) will have further internet capabilities I was wondering if anyone could throw over any ISP suggestions. What I am after in particular is as follows:

1. Fast enough for smooth, non laggy gaming worldwide and hosting.
2. more than 10gig monthly allowance.
3. Price: not more than $200 a month.
4. Multiple users (I would need a router for that wouldn't I? Sorry not much of a network buff here)

Another thing is that through some of the ISP I've currently been looking at they state "static" and "Dynamic" Ip's. What exactly does static and dynamic mean in networking terms.

Dunno if this'll suit you, but iinet are the first provider of "naked" dsl in australia (ADSL (up to 2+) without having to have a connected phone line) and are very reasonable in pricing... check em out. Iinet.com.au

Look at a couple of other ISP's for naked DSL. I hear Amnet are bout to start doing it too.

I would have suggested Virgin as the have an awesome package - $60 unlimited free local / national calls and calls to virgin mobiles - No needs for a phone line as it's all wireless - but the problem is it's only 4gb's but shaped to 128kbps -

If you can, use a static IP, you tend to connect faster other than anything else. And I'd recomend getting a Wireless network Router. Up to 30 pieces of equiptment connected at once without extra hardware. Just remember to put extra security on it!!

What is the exchange area everyone is talking about with adsl2+ and where is the exchange area? I'll be living in the city would that be a problem in regards to this exchange area?

How about internode? Anybody got any ideas on them?

Netspace have some great deals and if u can get ADSL2+ in ur area its $99.95 per month on a 60GB plan. my brother used netspace and i was so impressed i changed my isp to them aswell, good service and minimal downtime only recently because they have been upgrading all the exchanges for adsl2+ best i have seen yet imo.
