Any recommendations for a good wireless router for use with a PSP and PS3? I had a Belkin but it keeps overheating and shutting down now. I bought a Linksys WRT54G on the recommendation of the network guys our company uses, and talk about junk.
1. uPNP routing does not work (this worked on my Belkin), even when correctly enabled.
2. It is incorrectly broadcasting encryption method. Eg, setup security as WPA TPIK, and it was announcing it as WPA WEP (and I checked this on my PS3 and my laptop as well). As a result I couldn't get my PSP to connect to it, even when I manually configured the connection via the PSP as WPA TKIP.
3. Wireless connection acquisition was too slow and continued to timeout when trying to connect via my PS3. It would get part way through the negotiation (exchanging keys) and then timeout obtaining an IP address. It continually did this.
I had none of those problems with the Belkin. But the Belkin just isn't robust enough.
I want something with IP reservations too. I'm sick of having short leased internal IP Addys at home.
I was looking at the DLINK DIR-655, but the network guys (that recommended that cruddy linksys) said the dlink are poor. I don't trust them now, but you know it puts doubts in your mind.
What about netgear??
Does sony recommend any? I want to be able to us UPNP obviously
