Playstation 3 Hardware \ System Update.. How long?

Well I finally got my PS3 console today. Connected it, went through the set up, got to the menu, and then went to do a system update.. it's been doing it for almost 3 hours!?

This isn't normal is it? My connection to the internet is fine, seems as quick as usual.

Is the update really THAT big, or is it likely to be the Sony end? Anyone else experience this?

well the files are about 120-150 MB so depending on your conection it might take a while. Thought it might also just be a problem with sony's servers.

I've gotta say (and it pains me to), when it comes to setup and getting online, it's definitely 1-0 to MS. Even the Wii, sitting right next to these two has better download speeds than the PS3. Not good.

Check your internet connection settings... something must be not right as in 3 hours you could've leeched the update over dialup

About 90%. But as I said, it sits right next to the 360 & Wii, neither of which have any problems with wireless.
