As PS3 owners we should be wrapped about this.
Even if you don't care for blu-ray, it gives more incentive for people to buy PS3, which results in more incentive for developers to build games for the PS3

Thats the main reason i am getting one. I can buy a Ps3, have all my DVDs in 1080p upscaled glory, and very slowly but surely replace my DVDs with blu-rays if i feel the need. The biggest retailers in the world are now Blu-Ray exclusive. One of the primary developers of the whole HD-DVD format have bailed, and only 2 movie studios are backing HD-DVD now. Why do you think it's not over. M$ aren't stupid, they arent one of the most massive and richest companies in the world for doing dumb crap. They'll gracefully admit defeat and announce a Blu-Ray add-on for 360 at the GDC. They always said if Blu-Ray wins they'll release a Blu-Ray add-on.

HDMI doesn't make a different unless you have a 50+ inch TV. There's no real difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is actually very little difference in the quality between Component/DVI & HDMI on most TV's. Possibly the only thing that's going to make any difference between them is 1080p as I have a feeling Component doesn't run at that res.

For the HD audio, that's only useful if you can send that output from the TV to a surround receiver or your TV handles surround sound and lots of speakers. Personally, I prefer taking the digital optical direct to my receiver, and I don't think there is any difference between that and audio via HDMI.

Hey Foetoid, the only thing that makes me very nervous of Digital Delivery is the reliance on the hard drives... having been in IT for 20+ years, I've seen (and experienced) my fair share of hard drive crashes! :^)

I too could care less, but its a good and a bad thing that this has happened, good for those who only own a PS3 but a kick in the teeth for those only with 360's. I dont buy consoles to watch movies, so this personally wont bother me one bit. And yes, HDMI makes a HUGE difference!

Depends on the TV. The ONLY reason to even have HDMI (besides the convenience of having only 1 cable) is it carrys the 1080p signal. 1080i and lower can be comfortably handled by Component. So, unless you have a 1080p ready TV (which dont come in less than 40" i think), HDMI means nothing except the asthetic look of having 1 convenient cable.

The difference is so insignificant on a TV that is less than 50" that you'd be stupid to go out and buy HDMI cables if you already had compenent. There is a difference, but nothing that would justify paying for the cables. The differences aren't unbelievably noticeable unless you're comparing the two on two very big TVs.
