Great game, graphics and handling are so good for such an early racing sim on the console. It puts games like Juiced2, SegaRally, etc to shame (even though they aren't sims, they are complete crap) I bought it on release for $100 i think, still play it a fair bit while waiting for GTPrologue, only a week to go now

Yep, spent 4 hours last night racing around Albert Park (the detailing of which made me homesick for Melbourne) before moving onto Imola. I just love the level of detail and graphics especially on the HDTV. As for sound quality, absolutely fantastic through my Sennheiser wireless headphones that has the simulated surround sound and it doesn't piss the missus off.
Drive Assists?! Can't do without them although I did switch the brake assist off at one stage to get a feel for braking without them - got some work to do there as I tend to be a real late braker.
Currently using the Sixaxis controller but I'm now considering getting a racing wheel such as the G25 or the Porsche Turbo.

I had a hard enough time at Albert Park against the fences! As I'm still a beginner I've turned damage off just to get through it. BTW, gotta love the wet weather racing.
