dont know if this is the right section to post this but is there anyway to connect my PS3 to my laptop wirelessly with no router etc etc... i have been reading around and nothing seems to work... im at uni so im trying to find a way through the proxy servers to get on the net with the ps3... any detailed way of connecting the ps3 to a laptop to start with would be great...

Just basically open windowms media player and click file sharing or something - then just use the scan for devices function at the top of photos, music or videos or whatever.

*i have succeeded with hooking up my computer with the ps3, and have streamed movies and all of my songs, to do this u go into media player, click libaray, or sharing, then the options, it should detect the ps3.

go to the ps3 and seach for media server, and u will have it, just remember to share all the files u want played on your ps3 into that library thing on media player.

**I have not done it with vista yet, and quite frankly i dont wanna, vista is sh%t.

You can connect to a pc,through a router, by setting up your pc as a media server. You can use mp11 or tversity.

No the PS3 has to be connected to the same Internet as the laptop.

Otherwise how is it meant to communicate.

hope it helps. just search for media centres and try and connect to the 'girls internet' that will pee her off

Unfortunately, no it won't.
This is just a USB version of a wireless network card - it will only connect TO a router, or other Ad-Hoc device (like another laptop). You cannot (easily) make a USB wifi dongle into an Access Point...

Like you can buy a usb connecter thing from telstra that gives you wireless internet on the go - but you have to sign up to a plan and actually pay for your internet usage.

You're wrong.

Klue that WIFILink dongle will work perfectly. Not the greatest range, but it will certainly create a wireless access point for your PS3 to piggyback off your PC's internet connection. It is the cheaper generic brand of the WIFI-Max, which is popular for being a very versatile wifi dongle. Using the ZDWLan program that your dongle will come with you should have it working in 20mins or so (cos it might take a little bit of fiddling around getting the right drivers)
