Playstation 3 Hardware \ COD4 Can't save a game

I have a US version of Call of Duty 4. It seems to work fine on my Aussie 40GB PS3 except it doesn't save the games. I would play for 3 to 4 hrs as you do and then save it. When i go back in to play i have to start from the beginning again... Has anyone had this problem and can anyone shed some light on the problem? Thanks

I ended up buying the Aussie version of COD4 and it all works well..
I'll have to sell my US version now..
