I am confused, I thought Metal Gear Online was a totally separate game that you must purchase?

It does need initial install (updates your MGS4 file to the 4.6GB size) and there is currently version 1.01 availible for download (took about 10 mins using P2P option... avg speed 55k/s).

For those who have played the beta, you'll be right at home! For those who haven't, go get you Konami ID & Game ID setup!

Also, search for Shadowblade and add me as a friend if you want to be part of the upcoming MyPS3 clan! (In comments or in the add player, say who you are from MyPS3 so I know)...

As for purchasable things... well, I already checked out the MGO Shop [web based interface] (accessible from the main menu of MGO) and so far we have...

- MGO Extra Character Slot: you can purchase this item for a further 3 characters. $7.99 AU

- MGO Codec Pack: Ever wished you could make your character a bit more sociable? (32 extra voice tracks from sublime to ridiculous). $6.49 AU

As far as I see it currently, its a great way to stop the trend of PSN download sharing as everything is logged under both Konami and Game IDs once it's purchased...

and japan are gettin a stand-alone version.. well done on the prediction..
hopefully the stand alone will include 2 or more characters and the dlc for no extra charge.. but either way, we probably won't see it..

i played about 5 mins of online and i dont see any differences to the beta. plus i keep getting signed out of the network for some reason...i dont think ill go back to MGO anytime soon
