Does anyone else think that some games get too much hype? People expect too much from a game, then it doesn't live up to its expectations so no one likes it.

Hype only ruins a game if you're silly enough to pay any form of attention to it. Base it on your own expectations not just because an online website or "pro" gaming journalist says so. Oh but " his a gaming journalist, his job is reviewing games, he must know what his talking about" Why must he? Because he earns money for doing so? Generate your own hype, that way if the game really does not meet your expectations, than atleast its based off your opinion and not bs hype thats been blown out proportion.

I hate when there's a saturation of screenshots and videos for a game...and you end up looking at them all and then when you finally have the game in your hands it doesn't live up to the hype because you've seen what the game has to offer already. This happened with mario galaxy for me, but I think the fact that it was blantantly built with the intention that even a 5 year old could finish it hurt the experience for me (i.e. to say it was easy is an understatement)...

Look I hate to say this but I reckon all the hype around GTA4 ruined it I read a lot of what people were expecting and was expecting some of that stuff but I found it to be just another GTA game, great as it is but it didn't live up to what I was expecting. Got given MGS4 the other day, have not played any of the other 3, and found this far more satisfying than GTA seeing as I didn't pay any attention to the hype.

Absolutely GTAdude, but you ca always spot those games a mile away when screen shots and other gamers aren't in numbers before the release

GTA4 was a huge let down, not because of the hype but because all of the fun was sucked out of it and replaced by whining cell phone calls, a boring main character and mission set and the music and 5.1 mix (or lack of it) sucked! Vice city is still the best GTA for story and atmosphere with San Andres being the gameplay king.
