COD: WAW Map Pack Download Record

Armies of Call of Duty fans have heeded the call and responded with more than one million downloads of the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 from Activision during its first weekend of availability (March 19-22) on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network.

“The success of Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 speaks to Treyarch and Activision’s ability to provide fans with quality content during a time when people want to get the most out of their Call of Duty experience,” said Maria Stipp, Activision’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of Owned Properties.

The map pack contains four maps (Nightfire, Station, Knee Deep and Verrückt) and is available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and on the PlayStationStore for $15.95. Call of Duty: World at War is rated MA 15+ (Strong violence and coarse language, Gaming experience may change online) by the Classification Board.

There were many zombies mods for the PC version of CoD4, that's where W@W got it from.

Even that one "extra" mode isn't enough to define it as a "leech" game.

A large chunk of gamers played CoD4 and loved it and a large chunk of those gamers got CoDW@W because CoD4 was so damn good. I remember being sceptical about W@W but getting it because CoD4 was so good.

exactly, all too true. i doubt the sales numbers of this one quite match the cod4 map pack either, and i dont think its much of a stretch to predict that when MW2 release DLC it will break the record again....most people seem to prefer modern warfare for whatever reason, whether its the weapons/setting or the actual game itself.....or both

I like the "old wars" Its a more pure form of combat. Guns that need a bit of skill to master. Kinda like i think ww2 ww1 fighter games are better than shooting lock on missles from jets in modern fighter games.
