Call of Duty: World at War Review

Hi, this is my review:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you would know that the newest addition to the cod series, World at War returns back to the series’ World War II roots and thus causing some upset for Modern Warfare fans. This new instalment to the series was developed by Treyarch unlike its predecessors which were mostly developed by Infinity Ward. Call of Duty: World at War, lives up to the addictive online, chaotic, and overwhelming adrenaline surging campaign, which the COD series is well known for. And I am glad to say that World at War truly delivered and delivered well. Threre’s a solid single-player campaign, co-op play, massive multiplayer online games and even a fun silly mode featuring zombies.
The game is set in an island in the pacific, where you start your campaign and the Red Army’s reversal of the tide at Stalingrad all the way to the fall of Berlin. This provides a new interesting battlefield to play in as well as experience. As you progress throughout the game you will find bombed out cities and farmlands of the eastern front missions. The graphics emphasize this making the environment seem almost real.
War is brutal, this is truly the case yet more brutal with this game emphasizing it through the campaign mode to its fans, and I guess incorporates some sort of message along side with it. Japanese soldier’s swarm out of the brush, erupting out of spider holes to charge straight at you in an attempt to run you through with their bayonets. They will act dead and wait for you and your army to walk into the set trap. While the Russian front is full of merciless moments, packed with a lot of gunning down to do by unarmed and wounded soldiers of your own, it really shows how much the people in war were put through. Not to mention you must do some shooting as well.
The action in this game fast and liquidised, full of many action packed moments. Very well scripted as well as prepared for its fans. However, the campaign does suffer a bit, due to its skipping over long periods of time resulting in a lack of detail of its true story-line. Don’t get me wrong though its still very good. As speculated the campaign is as about as short as the campaign on Modern Warfare, however, despite this, it has a considerably more replay ability due to the co-operative mode, where you can complete missions with up to three other players.
Multiplayer online, is definitely where this game excels. Like modern warfare it uses a similar engine and thus has definitely one of the most addictive online gameplay out of all games on the PS3. On top of this World of War adds to what Modern Warfare left of. It has considerable improvement in both the graphics and gameplay. The rank system gets you going since once you reach a certain level you unlock perks, weapons and upgrades for several classes. Allowing you to have advantages over other players. And once again unlike modern warfare it has added a lot more content, including weapons, perks etc.etc.
In conclusion, I have tried to keep this review simple and tried to not reveal too much. It easy to be turned away from WWII shooters however, treyarch makes a convincing dispute to stay excited about World at War. This game is packed with great amount of gameplay to attract every type of player. This is a solid game that treyarch have released and I’m looking forward to see what they will bring to the table next.
Hashbrown is getting this game from Santa.
