PS3 Logo Redesign

When the PS3 Slim entered our lives so did a new PS3 Logo. This logo carries the same design from the PS2 and PSP systems and appears to be becoming standard on PlayStation branded products. With the new logo comes new box arts for upcoming games, as you can see above for Uncharted 2.

The box art for many games are being redesigned to fit a new box art template. This removes the Spiderman-font PlayStation 3 logo from the spine and gives the box art a little more room to breathe.

Another example of the new box art is that of Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time.

Just looks like they went backwards, the ps2, wii and xbox 360 has had this since day one. But I can see the point as it's not "playstation 3" anymore.

They should've left the old PS3 logo on Uncharted 2, it looks ugly all stretched out now.

Though A Crack in Time doesn't look too bad. Actually goes with its futuristic look.

I don't like how it's kinda similar to 360's design. By that I mean, where they placed everything:



Logo on left, online on right. If exclusive, it goes in the middle. Except for PS3, going right under PSN.

They really want to make the new PS3 logo official so they're changing the design of any new PS3 games from here on out.

Its ok people.. they have not announced this for europe/australia.

Though I think it suits ratchet and clank, however.. looks horrible on uncharted 2.

It is a interesting change, I'm not very fussy about it.
I'm most intruiged with the whole revamp of the Playstation 3 (new slim, console, fw3.0)
They're really going hard out on this

I don't mind it. I'm sure it's got something to do with PS3 being the more widely used and recognised term than PlayStation 3. Look at the slim box, it's got PS3 written massive, and PlySation 3 written fairly small under it.

Exact the opposite the Ps3 logo looks like the Ps2 logo, the spiderman font looks futuristic and modern.

Why are they changing this so far into the cycle? sure a slim PS3 is cool but changing the logo seems odd, imagine if McDonalds changed how the M looks...brand recognition is very important and judging by the Uncharted covers it almost looks like it's for a different console.

Yeah, imagine some poor person who walks into a games store one day and hadn't heard about the change in covers, they gonna think, "Uhh, where have I been? Have they released a new console already!?" Then they'll go home or something just to find out it will work on their already owned PS3 just they changed the way everything is presented

Hah! It says it gives the box art a little more room to breathe, but they've just lost up the top what they've gained from the side. Old's better looking on the side with the Spiderman text, but the exclusive and networking text ruins it while the new look squishes everything up the top, even the exclusive text is on another line.. does'nt look like too much of an improvement to me

It doesn't bother me that much...yet. I'd strongly prefer if all the games I buy too match..so all with the same logo. Not some with the old and some with the new. Might seem little, but it would drive me crazy.
