40,000 PS3 Slims Sold in Australia
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has today announced that the PS3 120GB 'Slim' has broken the 40,000 sales mark in Australia. The strong sales continue a worldwide success for Sony, after record breaking debuts in Japan and the UK, where PS3 sales saw an increase by a crazy 999% with the release of the Slim.
40,000 PS3 Slim units were sold in Australia between its launch on September 3 and September 20. By comparison, the original PS3 only sold 27,000 units in its first 10 days when it launched in Australia back in March 2007.
SCE AU boss Michael Ephraim said, “The new PS3 console reached 40,000 units in just two and a half weeks in Australia, and sold through more than 21,000 units in the first 4 days alone. This device was the key contributor to the PS3 platform generating over $30 million of retail value since launch, and we have experienced tremendous support from our retail partners.”
