If you are have time to kill in GC, then leave the place. It's full of morons, wannabes and fools with a strange sence of inadequacy trying to prove something through their cars. If you have a spare day or two, mebbe check out Mt. Tambourine/Hinterlands or trek up to the sunshine coast. But however, if you enjoy the GC and it's your thing, have at it.

If you don't like the idea of cruising around in your birth-suit then I'd pick up some cheap binoculars and camp for the day pretty close to the beautiful sights that the beach would provide
