From the looks and sound of it, it's probably your DivX file you're trying to play because 2.41 did not remove DivX Playability. Your DivX video might just include a codec that may not be supported on the ps3.

apparently there can be some issues with divx playback if the first couple frames are black, delete these frames and they should play fine

Depends on the developers of the game and if they wish to include in game music via XMB. Most games that come out from now on should include it.
