Yep. Laser died ... stopped reading PS3 game discs, Blu-ray movies, DVD movies ...
Happened at the beginning of my uni holidays too god damnit ...

have you talked to sony and asked them how much longer it will be. I know that thay wont say much but i like to give them grif, so maybe i will get it back in a shorter time not that will work but theres allways Hope.

I've called them multiple times ... will be calling them at the end of today (because they make PS3 shipments at the end of the week, so Thurs/Fri).
Max told me that I should be getting a PS3 back at the end of this week, or end of next week. So fingers crossed ...

I am using my mates ps3 at the moment but I can not get into myPSN as he has forgoten his password on his PSN so i am ranking up BFBC for hi on his name.

Ahh, I was allowed to borrow my friend's PS3 for a week ... before her brother returns from Hong Kong lol.
I used the time to finish Resistance and BFBC (storymodes) and the remaining time getting as many trophies as I could in SSHD

I had my 60GB console sent in for REPAIR, it turned off on me one night and didn't want to turn back on.?.?.? I got it back the other day, but nearly threw it in the bin... I plugged everything in, lights came on... I went to push the power button on the front, nothing happens..... i push eject... nothing... no beeps, no flashing lights.. Upon closer inspection i notice that the casing at the join's (near the power/eject buttons) had about a 5mm gap on one end... The console wasn't even re-assembled correctly! I tried to push the casing down to shut it, but it wouldn't go anywhere and i didn't wanna snap the thing so... So im gonna have to send it back... again. Two thumbs up for Sony on this one!! Two thumbs up the bum-bum!!

So does everyone get an email on the 15th day? im on my 13th day and im really hanging for any kind of info on my Ps3.

Well, I sent my PS3 through AusPost on the 30th June.
My delivery confirmation was stamped 2nd July.
I received an e-mail on 5 July that Sony was going to start work.
Received another e-mail on 25 July that they're planning on sending a PS3 back to me within the next 6-8 days.
Sony sends out PS3s on Thursdays and Fridays. So hopefully a PS3 is sent to me on 31 Jul, 1 Aug. It would mean I receive the PS3 approx 4, 5 or 6 August.
NB: I'm not getting my own PS3 back. I'm getting a different, factory refurbished PS3 back.

Sony did quote 20 to 25 working days to process the PS3 though:
