Slipknot's new album is going to suck so hard. I have been a hardcore fan for a long time, but their new album (from what I have heard) is ****.
Not sure if I will be going...MachineHead are no good either.

i disagree with you on both accounts there... slipknot's new one sounds quite promising, like a cross between Iowa and Vol 3. machinehead is machinehead. the blackening album kicks serious a**e. both bands are awesome live too..
i guess every man has their own opinion

Agreed. The only reason I don't really like what I have heard from their new album is because in their older stuff, they were very "slipknot" and nothing else. Unlike anything I had/have ever heard, but now they're going into the more generic metal.

Your efforts are useless. Seriously. What do you expect us to do? Not listen because you think we're fags?
No really, what are you expecting by saying that?
Does anyone know (approx) how much tickets will be?

thanks entice... i only posted this thread up to let like-minded metal fans know about slipknot and machinehead touring aus..
rivalzone - there's no word on ticket prices yet. i would safely assume it would be between $80-$100... due to slipknot's popularity in the underground world

Will go pending on the local support. Don't think too mcuh about Slipknot except for Vol 3 which still stands as a masterpiece in heavy rock music. If only Slipknot put that much effort into their Self Titled and IOWA records. My god, they were horrible...especially IOWA. Emo jabbering with powerchords and distortion to make it sound "brutal". Please...but Machine Head redeemed themselves with "The Blackening" plus I missed them on their last show here so I'll keep that in mind.
Also, rivalzone, it's so good to see another Porcupine Tree fan around. Were you able to catch them here earlier this year? By far the best gig this year...moreso than Iron Maiden. I'm just waiting for Opeth in September to completely blow my mind.

Slipknot? Underground? Sorry but they're about as underground as Miley Cyrus.

Yeah Slipknot are far from underground...
Unfortunately, I missed it, completely. I have no idea how either. I used to check around all the time for tour dates on bands and then I guess I stopped for a while, started again and I missed it by 2 days, you will never know how cut I was. But, they have been around for a while and after watching some interviews from Steven Wilson, he will be coming again
For now, I hope Anathema decide to pay us a visit after their new album (produced by Steven Wilson
)

Vol 3 a masterpiece - agreed.
my bandmate just got me into porcupine tree - pretty good stuff. i gotta listen to them more though..
slipknot not being underground - fair enough, my bad. i guess i meant it in the sense that they are not known to common folk, but very popular amongst us rock/metal/alternative/etc people
i blame the bottle of jim beam i just polished off with my friends
machinehead - yeah they redeemed themselves indeed with the blackening. its a great album from start to finish, and it begs you to listen to the album again. how good is the Halo riff eh?

oh dear. u keep listening to fifty cent homie. maybe if your wish hard enuff you'll turn into slim shadey. im sorry metal inst all for fags, im not a metalhead, i like punk, metal, rock and a few other genres. but deff not country. IMO all bands become 'radio friendly' the longer their around. slipkont included. 'wait and bleed' is still one of my fav songs of all time.

Dude, you honestly missed out. Just thinking about the night still gives me chills, especially when they played Anesthetize off "Fear of a Blank Planet". And the encore with Trains...my god....it truly was an experience. Plus, teh support band Sleep Parade are an amazing trio. Became an instant fan and have since become a regular at their gigs. Check them out.
And what's this about Anathema? They have a new album coming out? I must look into this. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, if they spring an Aussie tour, I'll be there for sure.

Machine Head with Slayer? Are you referring to last year's Slayer gig? Cause that was with Mastadon, not Machine Head.
And Machine Head last toured Australia with Trivium on the "The Black Crusade" tour.
And rivalzone, Trains and Anesthetize were just two small epics that night. I still vividly remember the setlist. It went as so:
Fear of a Blank Planet, What Happens Now, The Sound of Muzak, Lazarus, Anesthetize, Open Car, Dark Matter, Hatesong, A Smart Kid, Blackest Eyes, Way Out of Here, Sleep Together... (encore)Trains and Halo.
Yup. It was a night to remember. And I recorded everything til the end of Anesthetize before my camera's battery gave way. I got most of the gems except for Way out of Here and Trains which I really wanted. But oh well.
