Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Review - 9/10

Ok where to start, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a game developed exclusivly for the PS3 from Naughty Dog, the developers of the Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot series.

You follow a character by the name of Nathan Drake a treasure hunter who is looking for the hidden treasure
of El Dorado along with your good pal Sully and a Journalist Elena you try to find what Nathan's ancestor Sir Francis Drake was doing.

You enbark on a journey through drop dead gorgeous tropical jungles, caves,...churches (YES!) to search for the treasure and to find out answers for all of the plots and twists in the game. There is one BIG twist which you could see coming but forget about it and then it comes back to haunt you. People who have played the game know what im talking about There is a lot more to the story then it first seems.

The characters in the game are very well designed and look really good and whilst playing through the game when something happens to a character you literally emotionally feel for them.

The control scheme is well balanced and is pretty straight forward, and extremely similar to Gears of War's duck and cover mechanics.

The gameplay is a mix of a platformer and a 3rd person shooter, and people usually say that this game similar to tomb raider and prince of persia. In this game you can shoot, punch, stealth kill, run, jump, swing, cover, and you know....die. There are also sections of the game where you are in a jeep and control a turret which is pretty and cool, also there is a jet ski section which was pretty. There are Reward Points in this game, similar to Achievemnt points for the Xbox 360, they involve headshots, killing an ammount of people with a certain gun, finding all treasures and of course completing the game, for your reward points you can unlock things such as Black & White mode, fast motion, super slow motion, one hit kills ect.. and you can unlock suits which include naughty dog drake, cartoon drake and fat drake and unlock videos, galleries and loads more stuff which would fit on that big Blu Ray Disc (oh bluray we love you)

The game vocally is fantastic ranging from deep jungle brawls to exploring caves, this game does a very good job of using sounds and music. The voice acting is amazing, it is up there with Heavenly Sword (which i thought voice acting was good) and Mass Effect and the humor is there in Uncharted.

Ok Visuals, technical achievement for gaming, they are really good and there is really good animations ranging from face to body movements, try running under a waterfall and he will get wet. There are some cool unlockable vids that show you the actors, a rendered version of the game and the final game in one video at the same time and is worth checking out. This game is by far the best looking PS3 game ever made.

Overall this game blew me away. Although there is minor screen tearing and little framerate drops and is sometimes frustrating this game is well worth it so do yourself a favour and buy this game or even a PS3 because:

"This is Living!"



I finished this game in around 8 hours 30 minutes on Normal difficulty with 21 treasures collected and im probably going to play this again to get some rewards.
